I always look at their eyes to see if they can look me straight in the eye. Most people whilst lying can't!

Knowing the obvious answers are not always enough when you have been betrayed and have no confidence in your own abilities to judge. Also there does seem to be people whom can tell lies so well they even beat lie detectors! Protect yourself until you can know for sure within yourself that person is telling you the truth, you also need to hear the truth consistantly and over a long period of time before trust can be built - you dont have to be obvious whilst discovering the truth for yourself unless you wish to rush or dont mind the person in question being aware you are verifying the truth for yourself but that in itself does require a strength of character and practice.

Dont forget though there are such thing as nice lies!

Trust is the most abused feeling in the world to my opinion. But to be right of your gut feeling, 90 % of the time, you just have to think what it was that made you decide to trust or distrust... When you figure that out you have your own definition of how to differentiate between truth and lies... That's something you yourself are the only one who can teach you

That's a very good question. There is no short, quick, effective answer. You need to examine statements with a critical, questioning mind. Ask yourself, "Does this make sense?" "Is it outlandish and out of the ordinary?". Someone once suggested "trust but verify" and that's not bad. One of the best things to do is to go slow in developing relationships. Hurry doesn't go in the same sentence as good friends, lovers, or companions.

When you ask a person a question and they look to the left it is a lie. The left side of the brain is for thinking and remembering. Check out the next person trick em up then you will know.
