I have been to the doctor. They said it was a sinus infection first then they said it was bronchitis now they are saying it is allergies. I have taken all kinds of antibiotics and allergy meds and I am not getting better!!! I have had blood work done recently and everything is okay. Does anyone else have allergies??? Or a problem like this one????........

I began coughing in December. I thought it was sinus and then allergies. I was treated with allergy meds and finally in May it was like I was going to cough up a lung! Went back to Dr. & told her I'd been coughing long enough and she sent me to have a chest xray. They saw something near my vocal cords, so she then sent me to have a ct scan . After that they said I needed a biopsy and it turns out I have histoplasmosis which is caused by birds and bats. I don't have a compromised immune system so they are just watching it. Right before all this, my Dr. put me on zyrtec and that stopped the coughing immediately. Hope this helps!

YES! I have never heard of so many people with coughs that seem to never go away!!! I am afraid it may not get better until the weather changes. Have you seen an allergist? I think the strands of funk that go around get stronger and stronger much due to people not finishing antibiotics. So the bug gets stronger with more resistance to meds. Unfortunately, I do know of lots of people with a simular problem....but not a real answer that would help you other than hang in there and ride it out. Best of wishes to you!

Yes. I have had the same problem, of cough persisting after a viral infection. It is allergic cough. It is paroxysmal, sometimes leading to vomiting. It is worse at night.
Take a bronchodilator such as terbutaline or salbutamol along with monteleukast tablet 10 mg. at night. It will be relieved within two weeks. Continue monteleukast for at least 3 months.
If your nose is blocked at night, use a nose spray such as flunesolide.

add ginger and garlic to your every day intake.. gradually over a period of time.. your resistance to cough, cold etc will come down.. this sure is a tested phenomenon.
