So I'll be divorced in 3 weeks. I have a really large diamond ring set from my marriage. I still think it's beuatiful and all but obviously I'm never going to wear it. I hate seeing it and I know I could get some good money for it.

But I just feel like such a loser selling it.

Talk me into it!

ps- my x was a jerk and I have no attachment to him whatsoever. No bad feelings even - just nothing.

Thanks!

I got married to him. You don't give it back if you went through with the wedding and were married for years.

Man...

You know what, he bought that ring for you. It is yours! You are single now and your a woman so you have the right to do whatever you please. Sell it and make a down payment on a sexy new car and go hunting for mr right! Have fun and good luck

Sorry about your divorce and that things didn't work out. On the other hand the rings are yours and if you live in a community property state, so is half of the things bought during the marriage,. Doesn't matter whether he bought it with his money or you bought it with yours or his. You're back on the dating game so

Good Luck and take care !

I am not going to try to talk you into it - don't get rid of it unless you're in a very serious financial bind. He was a part of your life, even though it's over now. Don't just get rid of the ring like it never meant anything to you..

Also, if you're having doubts about getting rid of it - if you DO go through with it, you'll most likely regret it.

Yep, you are a loser. No question about it. Face that fact, grieve as much as you need to, figure out how it was that you got involved with a jerk (so it doesn't happen again), and get on with life. (Are you SURE you will never wear it again? That's a long time.)

You could have the gem made into another piece of jewelry. If you could do it yourself that would be great but, if not, talk to a jeweler about making it into a broach or a pin or some other piece.

This would be a way to make it all yours.

Trade it in at the store and get something else. Have the stones put into another setting. Or just sell it and go clubin' with all the cash.

I think you should take it down to the jeweler and make yourself a FABULOUS new ring out of it... he gave you THAT ring and it's the RING that reminds you of him. Go make yourself something spectacular out of the stones that are YOURS. You don't have to give up the BLING - just change it up a little and ENJOY it! Maybe make a ring and matching earrings and pendant or something.

Don't sell it, unless it's really really need it.
Better don't see it for some time. Try to get something to do so you are not thinking on the divorce rigth now.

Keep it until you feel totally comfortable selling it--objects connected with grief should be parted with only when you are ready . Don't give it back to him--it belongs to you.
