Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.
Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests. Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors; I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house)."According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there. It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm hard-working and honest...... um, except for well, you know. And what a deal it is for me!! I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being anti-housebreaker.

Oh yeah, anther thing...I want you to learn my language too so you can communicate with me.

Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?! Only in America....If you agree, pass it on"

It is ridiculous but the fact is we ask for them. We don't enforce our own laws. We offer citizenship if their child is born here. We offer welfare and food stamps. We give free education and free lunches at schools. Etc.... So of course they come here. It's really the land of opportunity.

What upsets me is not these immigrants. What upsets me is that President Bush is not doing anything probably because he supports an open border. The Republican party has just recently backed off the issue of immigration to focus on national security. Duh, like our border isn't a national security.

I'm Republican but I'm very disappointed in how the immigration issue is not being addressed. No one should be given a free ride! I'm part Hispanic but my family came here legally.

You are right. But I see that you have a few people that disagree with you. Those people are the same that cry, My Poor People deserve better and they belong here even if they broke the law (Federal Law) by entering illegally into the United States. And also take Billions in benefits away from American Citizens. I say these same people should go back to Mexico and help fight for the people of their own country, and help establish a better government. So that way they can help the other Illegal Immigrants entering Mexico. So that they would not be robbed or killed and made to work in a whore house. By the Mexican Government. Clean your own house first and then maybe come here to the United States to B*tch. I 'm but one man and that is my own opinion. Those same people have no right to give away something that does not belong to them and that is The United States Of America

This analogy or most of its context is being echoed across the western world. Free to live in ivory towers the humans rights brigade have sort to destroy this way of life

We live at ground zero its the common people that suffer the consequences of idiotic legislation.

Know this the hand wringing bureaucrats that your time is growing short and every time the immigrates rant its another nail in their coffin and a well earn ticket to deportation vil

I AGREE........how do we make it known how we feel? who would be able to do anything about it? I live in Texas and WILL vote for Kinky Friedman for Governor this time because he is the only candidate that seems to really care about Texas. The rest of the people seem to care more about there carers as politicians, not the people. If your a Texan, listen to what he has to say.

Of course it's ridiculous, but it is an election year and our elected officials (notice I don't refer to them a leaders) are more interested in covering their own a**es and not trying to offend anyone instead of doing what they took an oath to do...which is represent and serve the people who elected them! The last time I checked, illeagal immigrants cannot vote so why are these elected officials catering to them? They probably have some on their own personal payroll doing just what you stated: making the beds, cleaning washrooms, mowing the lawn, etc.

The only thing more ridiculous, is that Congress doesn't need to do anything. The laws are already on the books, they just aren't enforced. Congress saying they are going to pass new laws is just pandering to buy votes.

Lame, only in America. Europe has immigration problems too, except that the illegals over there try to blow up trains.

Yes, Dar's I know, but they didn't come from Mexico. Their fanatical mosques are in places like London not Tijuana.

I DO NOT AGREE!! AND I FEEL THAT PEOPLE THAT THINK LIKE YOU ARE THE REASON THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL OF THIS **** ANYWAYS.
YOU DO HAVE A GOOD METAPHOR BUT IT IS NO WHERE NEAR THE SAME AS ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION!!
I THINK IF AMERICANS WEREN'T SO SCARED OF HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF AND THE COUNTRY BEING TAKEN OVER AS THEY DID TO THE NATIVE AMERICANS THEN THERE WOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM.
AMERICANS ARE JUST GREEDY AND YOU SEEM LIKE THE STAND UP AMERICAN!!

It is ridiculous.

And Sal, some of our illegals took down three planes and two occupied World Trade Center towers.

It's totally ridiculous. Some people totally ignore things that are completely wrong but yet still think they are entitled to those things because it increases their well-being. Totally wrong but they totally ignore the fact. Some people's views of the world/morality/ethics are very twisted.
