My mom got a swelling at lower back,its painful ,it like a lump,its not a cyst?what can it be

It could be a spur on the lower spine, or diseased coccyx(tailbone).My mother has same symptoms and that is her diagnosis by doc. They need to do a MRI/catscan and xrays along with blood tests to check for degenerative diseases and cancer. Hope this helps. Good luck.

It might be a number of things, from a tensed-bunched up muscle (which can be very painful!) to something worse. Try getting some aspercream or something similar on it, then see if a doctor will look at it and give a more sure diagnosis.

it could be a tumor n she needs to get it checked out cause not to worry u but it could be a sign of cancer my dad had one before just tell her to get it checked out.

For most injuries, such as this you should see a doctor immiedietly. And icey hot works well to soothe :)
