Genetics. Estrogen. Women are the mother nurturer. Whether you are talking about animals or humans mothers usually always play this role. At least with mammals.

I honestly think that it is programmed into us, such as genetics, hormones etc. Women have the children and care for them, men go out and hunt and kill the big game. You can't change thousands of years of evolution.
