1.Service to your country
2. Keep our country free
3. Providing a safe place for our families
4. Allowing us to live the American dream
Do you see a pattern here? It is not about benefits to you, but rather for the benefits for others. Thousands and thousands of men and women have given up their lives, so that we may live in a free country like America. It is not about how it benefits me or you, but about the greater good for all of us.
p.s.
Don't believe a word the recruiters tell you. They will tell you anything to get you to join. Trust me on this one. If they guarantee you a school or a trade even if it is in writing, you may not get it. It depends if you qualify and the military needs it after you finish basic. Many young men and women have been fooled into joining the military in this manner.

Depending on the branch you join and the job you select, there are many advantages. A recruiter will be able to tell you the most in depth advantages, though they are a bit biased as they want you to join.
I am actually about to start the process of joining the Army myself, and through some of my own personal research as well as the new commercials on bonuses and tuition aide, the Army can offer up to 150 jobs in their services.
Enlistment bonuses has just risen to up to $20,000 and I tuition aide also rose to I think $70,000. (could be mistaken, listen for a commerical on tv or radio to get the real numbers, or just call your local recruiter. Log onto www.goarmy.com to find your local recruiter and their contact information)
The Armed Services will teach you discipline, get you in pyhsical and mental shape, as well as train you in specific fields of knowledge that can be used in the Civilian world as well as the Military one.
You have the opportunity to travel to other countries, depending on where you get stationed after Boot and AIT. (Again, Army things, different branches may/will call them different things)
Hope that helped.

Sure,
The Montgomery GI Bill, which can help you pay for college when you get out...
The fact that you can get much of your college degree done while you are in because a lot of the training the military pays you to go to counts as college credit...
Free Medical...
Free Dental (get all those wisdom teeth out while you're in, it's expensive on the outside)...
Job security (unless you get in trouble, it's really easy to keep your job)...
See the world (I've been to Japan, China, Singapore, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, London, Scotland, Dublin, Paris, Venice, Rome, Barcelona, Germany, Honduras, Mexico, Canada, Rio...not to mention Hawaii, Washington state, San Diego, Virginia...I could go on and on)...(p.s. you'll see more of the world if you join the Navy)
Time during your work day to work out (maintaining peak physical condition is part of your job...I really challenge you to find another employer who will pay you to work out)....
Raises every January and sometimes in June too...
Regular promotion, and pay raises for time in services (pay raise guaranteed every two years)...
Opportunities to advance to Officer ranks (which will prepare you better for corporate success later on)...
I can go on and on, but if you want more info, hit me up with an email or something and we can talk about it...just make sure you get a guaranteed school or trade from your recruiter, something that sounds good to you...and make sure you get it in writing!

They give you a bonus you can use to but a Mustang or a Ford Ranger Sport.
Four years from now when you get out the colleges you did not get accepted to before will probly give you chance, and you'll have the money to pay for it.
When you realize you can't survive in the real world because there aren't enough rules, and nonone to kill, you can become a police officer.
