The surgery I am recovering from was a medial reefing and open release.

Gloucosamine is great stuff. My whole family has suffered from crippling arthritis when they get old ... my brilliant uncle (nuclear physicist) has studied the benefits of gloucosamine and uses it daily. He's got a mild case of arthritis at the young age of 70.

He came up here a few years back and he and my roommate decided to go bike ridding. Well, two hours later, my roommate was calling me in tears begging me to pick him up 'cas he just couldn't get over the mountain. Well, I drove all the way out there, saw my Uncle peddling his way ... got my roommate in my convertible ... and my uncle still beat us home. Freaking unreal!!!! Guess my Uncle is my testimonial to gloucosmine ... and I'm taking it daily now too (even though it'll be a mirricle if I make it to 70).

If your pain is cartilage-based, then glucosamine will help: it helps your body build the cartilage, which acts as a cushion between the upper and lower leg bones that form the knee joint.
If your pain is due to bones rubbing bones, or due to muscle tissue problems, then glucosamine will not help. Good luck!
