What are the costs of living expenses, the cheapest and good living conditions in California?
I have worked at a carpet plant for over 10 years, being an operator for the last 6.
I love working with kids and animals but I don't have a degree.

California pay the highest prices for homes in America. They have the highest price for gasoline, and earthquakes.

I live in the central valley and I would not reccomend moving here. If you do decide to move to CA, get ready for extreme heat. Here in the valley it can get to 115 in the summer and never gets that cool in the winter. 1 in 3 kids have asthma in the valley and it's the meth capitol of the world. A lot of people think that California is sunny skies, celeberties, and the ocean. Where I live I am still a good 4 hour drive from the ocean and I've never seen a single celeberty. Yea it's sunny, but at the expense of your skin. However, the valley is the cheepest part of CA... with your average house being about $300,000. I agree with the others that Northern CA is a lot nicer than any other part. If you do decide to move to CA, go there. If you're looking to just move to this part of the country, I suggest Oregon or Washington instead. You still get some sun, but it's not ALWAYS sunny. It's not too hot and you're equally far away from everything as you would be in CA.

Lived in CA most of my life. Nothern CA has a better climate. The jobs are mostly in San Diego, LA, and the SF Bay area. Some companies are requiring degrees for secretaries. The cost of a one bedroom apartment in decent areas is at least $1500 per month and climbing. You can buy a pretty good house in AL for this kind of money. Homes start around $700,000 in CA. It's a little cheaper in areas like Fresno, Stockton, Bakersfield, Modesto, and Sacramento but the jobs are fewer and pay less plus its no different than where you are at in these areas.

People are much friendlier in AL than they are in CA and more inclined to help each other.

Unless you make at least $50K it is very hard to make it on your own.

It's very nice weather in CA but I would advise staying there or if you just have to move some place, pick some place else.
