My church has about fifteen members and the church is mostly only open on Sundays and all they do is ask for money and stress on bills needing to be paid. But we have never had areal business meeting and our storehouse is always empty. I ask questions and they say its none of my business. I love my church and my pastor and dont know what to do!!!!

The deal is...read Malachi in the bible....you will understand after reading that giving to your church is not just for fun. God Commands us to give 10% of our income to him. It is not for sacrafice but more for obedience. That is what God wants from his people. If your church is not using their funds correctly, just don't worry. God will take care of that. You are doing what God is asking and if they aren't , he will punish them.. Don't worry.

A church should not be that secretive. Everything may be on the up and up, but you will never know it unless they give out financial reports periodically. I don't think there is much you will be able to do about it. Is there a church secretary, treasurer, etc. there? Does the church give you a "receipt" for taxes at the end of the year showing your tithes and offerings?

I go to a small church who does not have a secretary, treasurer, etc. from among the congregation. However, there is a Board of Directions set up and any checks, etc. have to be signed by two people. There are many safeguards in place. And, most of all, they do not stress money and bills to us at all.

Become a member of the church, if you are not already a member. Tell them that since you are donating money, you want to know what your money is going towards. If you feel that they are missusing the funds, bring it up to other people in the congregation and approach the person in charge of finances with at least one or two other people who have similar concerns. If no one else in the congregation feels the church is misusing the funds then they are probably not misuing the funds.

Who are "they" who say this is none of your business? The pastor is supposed to be the leader of your local church. If he's abdicated his place, this is definately a problem. The elders are not above answering to the pastor, period.

Are the others in your congregation aware of this? Perhaps it's time for all of you to get together and look into this.

Peace.

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I don't have to worry about that. We make voluntary donations as we resolve in our heart. (2 Cor. 9:7) Accounts reports are given monthly so that everyone knows the financial status of the congregation and occassionally if there is something needed it is put to a vote of baptized individuals.

Loving GOD and being concerned with HIS standards and views on matters should be the factor that motivates you in your choice of religion...not your pastor and/or church.
