Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui, and Hawaii are the main islands....there are 3 other smaller ones...

Largest is Hawaii, the big island with the volcano. Usually just called "Big Island" by locals. Above that is Maui. To its left is Molokai, then the vacation island, Oahu, with the capital, Honolulu and wonderful beaches. Kauai is next, and Lanai.

A new one is forming off the South East coast of Hawai'i. It will hit the surface in 10,000 years. There are also thousands of other little islands that are protected by marine laws.
