I use the same detergent and the same soap to take a bathe. I take Benadryl to calm it down. I don't know what to do.

My husband gets very itchy skin and he refuses to go get an allergy test. He takes Claritin-D 24-hour (or the generic version) everyday and it keeps the itching away. (At least until he stops taking it for a few days.) We have tried changing his detergent, using different soap, and using special cremes and moisturizers. None of it helped. Only taking the Claritin-D 24-hour works.

try not to scratch whatever you do. the more you scratch the worse the welts are going to get. The germs from your fingernails in your skin will cause an infection. go to your doctor so they can prescribe you a steroid cream that should top the itching and will get rid of the welts. in the meantime switch to detergents with no perfumes. you can also try an oatmeal bath. Make sure you moisturize your skin after every bath. Try a cream instead of lotion. It could just be dry skin. I recommend aveno. It's the only lotion that keeps my skin from getting dry and itch free.

Candida fungus (yeast) may cause generalized itching. Try an anti fungal powder or cream. If it helps stop the itch, check out yeast at www.hufa.org, or start eating lots of yogurt (plain - no fruit added) unless you are allergic.
