Season ticket to the local football club. Does he like Rugby Union? If so there is a clock shaped like a rugby ball and as the time set for getting up is reached it gives the last seconds of England winning the World Cup,the glorious drop goal by Johny Wilkinson. I bought it for my grandson and he said ti was the best present he ever had. Or an England T shirt.

Buy him tickets to a sporting event, a round of golf for him and another person, if he is a business person, what about a nice pen? If he likes any certain TV shows buy him the entire season. See if there is something that he has that shows his true character. Like certain colors, or what does he do in his spare time? Why don't you just tell your dad that you want to spend a day with him...just the 2 of you. Go to dinner/lunch and go bowling....or do something fun like that and of course, pick up the tab!
Good luck!

get him a gift certificate at a sportswear store like Big5 or something. Take him out to dinner at a sports bar if you're old enough.

I like to get unique picture frames with a picture of one of my daughters, or sometimes they'll take me to a Twins game or out to dinner so I can spend some extra time with them. As parents get older, we don't want any more stuff. We just appreciate more time with our kids. Wow does that sound like my parents.

why not try an away day... if he likes sports you can have a look at different ideas that means he can get away for the day, like a Red Letter day...
