Believe this or not - deodorant. Any kind, stick, spray or roll-on - great for mosquito bites too. Or any other type of bite for that matter. Just dab it on - may take about 3-5 minutes - but then it's all gone.

dont know what the best itch stopper is but I can tell you the best flea killer is and it's natural and will not hurt your pets
salt. When the fleas eat the salt their bodies swell up and explode. Tell your mother in law to sprinkle salt on the carpets and take the animal to the beach or give the animal a salt bath
Believe me it works I had two kittens and thick shag carpet and within 4 days no fleas

The "pain killer" that the mosquito injects in you before she takes your blood is a histamine. It has me itching for weeks after the bite and drives me nuts. Fortunately my cats don't have fleas.
I don't know if taking an antihistamine would help you. I think it might if you had a lot of bites and you wouldn't notice any effect if it's just one or two.

Get some over-the-counter anti-itch cream. Get the strongest you can find. Also, clean the bites with antiseptic before applying the anti-itch cream.
Good luck!!!

Benadryl ( or similar) as an antihistamine to take orally, rubbing alcohol on the spots, to dry it and stop itch unless you have calamine lotion, but alcohol is the best and doesn't stain clothes.
