No you should not have to file if your gross income was $3,500. I am not sure what the 2006 numbers are but the 2005 filing threshold for a single person under the age of 65 was $8,200 ($9,450 if you were over 65).

However if you received the money at a part time job they may have withheld some federal income tax from your check. You would probally be due a refund and the only way to get it would be to file a return.

If you are a dependent of someone else, or are working as an independent contractor so social security was not paid on your earnings, then yes. Otherwise, no.

If you had anything withheld, then you should file to get it back. And you might be eligible for an earned income credit, which is a program to provide money to people with low incomes. There are some eligibility rules, but if you're eligible and don't file, you won't get it, so it's worth checking on. You can check on it free - either call the IRS, or find a VITA site during tax season - VITA is a program where trained volunteers prepare tax returns for low to moderate income people at no charge. There's probably a site near you, you can find them on the IRS website.

Assuming this income is a taxable type of income. It first depends on if you are a dependent of someone else. If you are, then yes you have to file. If not, then you only have to file if you want to get back your federal withholding back. But if you are between ages 25-65 you may also recieve EITC.

If the money was from wages, and there was nothing taken out, then the answer is no. Your personal exemption and standard deduction would be more than you made, so you wouldnt owe any taxes. If they took money out then you would probably want to file to get it back.

Don't know for sure, but, you might get money back if you do file. I would fill out the forms then decide if you need to mail it.
