Once I really did leave the curling iron on (and sitting on the floor) for an entire week, luckily I came home to just a brown burnt spot on my carpet. The rest of the house was in tact whew

I used to have OCD when I was little. I still do, actually. But I keep OCD in check by telling myself "It's not time to worry yet". I deal with things when it happens. I have to tell myself "This is just another of your many irrational fears. Don't worry about. Dont let the disease win." And if I really did leave something on, I'll worry about it once I'm walk in the door, and not a moment before!

Yes, I do that all the time, with my hair straighteners too!!

Once I popped home for lunch and was stood in the kitchen making a sandwich and heard my iron click (you know that little noise they make when they are heating up?) and realised that I had left it on all morning. Whoops!!!

SInce then, I always turn off and unplug things and say to myself "there, see? You have done it" and then you remember. You do look silly doing it though!!!

Yep. But new irons have a safety on them. After being on for over 30 minutes they will turn off on there own.

Or the I left the Coffee pot on question?
I want to let you know that sometime similar actually happened to me.
We went shopping came home ,and our house was burned to the ground nothing left. Our cat survived as she was outside, and I had my family including my children with me, so I had all that was important to me.
Reason for the fire: electrical fire that started in the wall.

Now this is really one for me!! I have an obssession with the iron being left on! I am convinced I haven't turned it off, so much so that hubby always checks it for me before I go out and then texts me 10 mins later to tell me it is still turned off. I have even rung him from work and he has had to go up the house (he works on our farm) to check it is off (it always is!). I even made him stop balecarting and drive 5 miles on his tractor home to check it! He gets really pIssed off with me about it!!!

I check the iron and my straighteners about 10 times before I leave for work everyday.... same way I check my car door and windows are shut about 10 times before I'll leave it to walk to work....

Couple of times, but it's never on when I get there. My house has been blessed with Iron fairies...they have a habit of watching over my curling iron too. lol.

I always do that to myself. I know 100% that I didnt do the things I worry I did but I can't get the thought out of my head. If it's really severe it's a case of OCD.
