Best drummer I've ever seen play: John Blackwell

He plays drums for Prince, and I've seen him do things that I've never, ever seen another drummer do while playing in person or on video.

Side note: As you may know, Prince is a genious when it comes to the number of instruments that he's good at (including the drums). With that being said, I was told that Prince said the best drummer he had ever seen was (believe it or not) Morris Day from "The Time" and was also in Prince's 1984 movie, "Purple Rain".

I think "Hot for Teacher" is way up there on the impressive list - Alex van Halen, on Jump I think.

Well anything by Neil Peart

But I like the way he makes Driven on Test for Echo seem like it speeds up and slows down though we all know it's right on time. Though it sounds simple it's still hard to play, darn Neil frustrating drummers across the globe for decades.

I really can't argue with the other Peart suggestions.
