u are not an native indian american, mayan, aztec, etc. to do something like that and plus people where forced (british) to believe in their nonsense that god created the earth and so forth i have always thought of that but it would be to much because the earth is just currupt by technology and pollution to even start worshiping enviornmental elements.

Both the Sun and the Moon are very spiritual... just because they do not fit the scientific definition of life doesn't mean they are merely inanimated objects. Only a demon would demand worship; respectable spirits are worshipped because they are respected, and the Sun and Moon are both to be revered and respected.

Ancient Egypt used to worship the sun for a while when a certain new Pharaoh got elected. I think it was the first Mono-theistic religion, but i could be wrong.

It certainly gives more life than a mythical God ever has....so I agree, we should worship real objects like the sun, giver of all life, rahter than mythical creatures. Might as well worship the Loch Ness Monster......

Vedic Culture encourages one in lower consciousness of Understanding to worship the Gods Energy and understand Greatness of God by Studying his Energy...Just as you can appreciate the King More by appreciating his Kingdom.
The Supreme Lord can be preliminarily perceived by His different energies, and in this way He is realized impersonally.
God Says, "O son of Kunti, I am the taste of water, the light of the sun and the moon, the syllable om in the Vedic mantras; I am the sound in ether and ability in man." (Bhagavad-Gita 7.8).
So as your question shows you are not able to appreciate Supreme God, hence you can go ahead and perceive him via his energy.

Higher than this worship however is worship of Lord, as present as Super soul in every one's Heart. And higher than that is the worship of the personal for of God...
For the most advanced Krishna says "Always think of Me, become My devotee, worship Me and offer your homage unto Me. Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promise you this because you are My very dear friend." "Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear." (Bhagavad-Gita 18.65,18.66)

I disagree and I have to tell you the sun does not like me. I am a redhead with green eyes. Why would I worship anything that can burn me in 5 minutes?

Duh! The sun is a star, a rather small one at that. It was 'created' to warm the Earth and give us life; the sun was not our Creator.

While we should be thankful for our sun, it is wrong to 'worship' it. God alone, Who created the Universe, is worthy of worship.

The car has more effect in our lives than the man who made it. Then 'Bang' it breaks down. Can you imagine the sun breaking down?
