They don't breathe. They get oxygen through the umbilical cord's blood transfer.

Babies in the womb don't breathe with their lungs. They have a more agressive hemoglobin that takes oxegen from the mother's hemoglobin inside the placenta. I believe your question is why don't they have the sensation to cough the fluid out of their lungs? In fact, during a certain phase of development, the baby will start to push the fluid in an out of its lungs, strengthening its muscles for when it comes time to start breathing. I guess water in your lungs isn't a huge problem when you don't have to worry about drowning.

Everything air, nutrients, food etc is either supplied by mothers or the placenta. They dont breather per say like we do on our own.

They are not as developed as , hum , lets see Mary Kate . Their fingers are not long enough to choke their selves !

they breath the liquid in the womb. thats why when they are born they are sreaming and they get tubs to flush the liquid out so they cant get their lungs working. thats why if the baby dosent cry they give them a lil smack on they bum so they will cry.

they do not breathe until they are born,that is what the placenta is for,their lungs are empty despite what some of these stupid answers say.
