Nope. Dear ol' Mom doesn't agree with the religion I'm a member of.
I actually did some research, investigated what I believed, compared it with what the church I was raised in says, and realized I don't believe most of what they do, so I searched for a church that does believe what I believe and joined. It's been 14 years now and I've never been happier.

picture this..

suppose someone with authority approaches you with a stick and tells you that its no ordinary stick and that when you wish for anything you want the stick will give it to you in an instant.

would you blindly believe and begin embracing the stick, or would you see wether it ACTUALLY works?

im sure you guys will be thinking of actually checking it out first right?

the scenario i have just pictured is an example of people's perception of religion. its called blind faith.

i mean, think about it. even if your parents asked you to follow a religion, there will eventually be a day in your life where you will have to pause and do some soul searching. you will be asking yourself wether following this religion is really worth it. what have i gained out of it? has my life changed following (insert religion here)? where will i be going? these are one of life's greatest questions, and they will hit you pretty hard when you mature and start to realize the religion you're following is just a big joke. if you dont see the light at the other end, why care what other people say?

for me, im christian, and i admit that i started out as a christian...cuz mommy said so. it turned out to be so wrong. when i was 16, i begin seeing god's true characteristic's through a distorted perception and i began doubting him. but god eventually showed me his mercy and grace and i come before him with a joyful heart. no gimmicks ;) till this day i begin thirsting for more and more of Jesus and im glad that im not doing it just because my mommy said so.

cheers

I believe my religion is the right one for me. I am not the same religion as my mom. In fact, my family is very religiously diverse. My mom is not the same religion as my dad. My sister is not either of their religion and I am not any of their religion either. Then I have aunts and uncles and cousins that are also of various religions as well. Even my grandparents were not the same religion as my parents. I was raised to search on my own and to think for myself. I chose the religion I practice because it very closely (more closely) matches the beliefs and perspectives that my experiences of the divine have shaped.

No, because my heart tells me so.
My Mommy has LONG been out of the picture for influencing my decision-making.

nope. my mommy nor my daddy influenced my decision to believe.

i did so, when i set out to make a mockery of the bible and as a scientist kept finding scientific fact to support the bible, it's persons, places and things.

My mom is very "out there" about religion. Then again, I do happen to agree with a lot of her points, which I think she stole from me... :\
