it stands for eXPerience. I wonder how they stumbled onto this one.. this is what i think.
Previous desktop versions where 95, 98 and ME (excluding 2000). These where called 9X systems. mixing NT and 9X system created XP.. (sort of)
so they flipped around 9X to XP Tada!!!!!!!.
This is just what i think anyway.
