About a month ago i woke up one morning and my legs were itching like I had been attacked by mosquitos. Throughout the course of the day the itching had moved up to my arms and I started to feel a little bit swollen. 24 hours later my body was covered in hives and was so swollen that I could barely walk. 2 days after that my tongue started to swell. the whole thing lasted for about 4 days. I thought it was a food allergy but don't food allergies hit you right away? this progressed over a few days. any ideas on what it could have been. I hadn't had any new foods or anything else out of the ordinary

It very well could have been an allergy to a new laundry detergent as well as a medication you were taking, or even a bug bite. With so little background information there really is no way to tell. If you seek a Physician, they can perform allergy test's on you to hopefully get to the root of your problem. It is not to be taken lightly either, you can go into shock, as well as your repiratory system can be blocked or shut down resulting in death. I'm not trying to scare you, but seriously get this checked out. If this problem ever happens again, take Benedryl immediatly after the symtems appear, that is all the doctor will do to treat this, but they will help with finding the allergy to further prevent a reaction.

Sounds like an allergic reaction to something. But, I do know first hand that Stress can bring on the hives. Have you been under stress? Have you changed detergents, softener, bath soap, etc.
If it happens again, the only way to know for sure is go see a Doctor.

It definitely sounds like an allergic reaction, sometimes the more you are exposed to it the worse the reaction gets. It could have been anything food, soaps, cleaners, pesticides from outside or medication. You should see an allergist to get tested, next time it could be deadly!!

you were on the slow road of anaphalytic shock. you need to see an allergist and determine what you're allergic to. maybe you'll choose a course of allergy shots or just a daily antihistamine. but you should definitely have benadryl and an epi-pen on hand.

sounds more like a reaction from a bug bite, or something like that. keep benadryl on hand and take it immediately if it ever happens again. If the benadryl doesn't work right away, see a Dr.

You need to see a doctor or go to the ER if it happens again or anything out of the ordinary happens again.

You're suffering from a spider bite! Possibly the venom of the hourglass spider which are common in the US!
