It is illegal and a war crime. I understand that Bush is trying to introduce legislation that would retro-actively shield him and his administration from the war crimes they have committed thus far.

Having terrorists fight and kill our people and try to sneak into our country and destroy lives, buildings and threaten our way of life is even more repugnant, so sometimes we need to be flexible in our fight against terrorism. Why take something away from our people on the front lines? Your spelling is torturous to me, but your right to free speech is legal. Torture is a necessary tool that our interregators need to have at their disposal. Would you have them put terrorists in the sad chair in the corner until their lack of self-esteem forces them to fess up? Join the real world pal, and get a clue.

The only ones prosecuted were never in the White House, the Justice dep't or the Pentagon so the "responsible" ones walk. As is usual.

As with anything, the devil is in the details.
I think most Americans not only agree with, but actively expect and demand that their government engage in torture in "ticking bomb" situations.
Remember that movie with Nicholas Cage where he was with the Secret Service detail assigned to a former first lady (Shirley McClain in this case). She was kidnapped. The kidnapper was captured but would not give up her location. Cage went into his hospital room, pulled his revolver and shot off one of the guys toes. He told him he would shoot off one additional toe every 30 seconds until the guy gave up the location.
That's what people want. If you know who the bad guy is, and you have him, and you know he is withholding information, and you know that information will save innocent lives, people expect their government to do whatever it takes to get the information.

I am a "good American" and i see nothing wrong with slapping a terrorist around. The only people that see something wrong with beating the truth out of terrorists are the goofballs who think they(terrorists) should have the same constitutional rights as American citizens.
