Tea and Coffee are ground and refined an extra step. They are also treated with additives that leech out the natural caffeine. Although this process is very effective, it leaves very trace amounts of caffeine in the product, around 1%.

The last I knew they did it with solvents.
The methods may have changed in the last few years so I'm not sure the use of solvents is still going on.

They use water and run it through the bean. Tea I dont know about that.

they use very strong solvents which give some people severe headaches
