My friends little boy had terrible nightmares the other day, dreaming about being eaten by ants!

When I asked his mum what he had had for supper, she said a lump of cheese, so maybe there is something in it!?

I love cheese, but sleep so soundly, I cannot recall what I dream or have nightmares about anyways, so it don't matter.

It's because your body is digesting it, so not completely resting, so insetead of falling into that deep dreamless sleep, you end up in the REM state - thus dreaming, or feeling like you have dreamt more - which could either be good or bad dreams.

It's not just cheese, it's any food, it's just that cheese must take a bit more effort to digest I guess.

Yes, its something to do with one of the chemicals released to digest the cheese bactieria.

Someone far more intelligent can give you the name I'm sure.

if you're stressed out, it doesn't matter what or if you eat before you go to bed. you'll have nightmares anyway.

No. I think it was something your mum said when you were little similar to saying carrots will make you see in the dark, and brussel sprouts will put hairs on your chest.
