Yoga, you can buy special exercise DVDs for pregnant women. By exercising during pregnancy ina safe and sensible way, you are more likely to regain your figure after you have had the baby.

You'll need to exercise a few precautions when you engage in any physical activity.

Don't press yourself to the point of exhaustion and being so out of breath you can't talk. That could signal that your body's delivery of oxygen to your baby is being impaired.

Avoid exercises that put a strain on your lower back or legs, or require that you lie flat on the floor. That position will cause your uterus to compress arteries and veins.

Don't try to strengthen your abs in hopes of helping your labor. Abdominal muscles often divide themselves down the middle during pregnancy, and putting pressure on them will only make them spread apart even more. Instead, focus more on doing Kegels (see below.)

Also, keep in mind that your balance is shifting, so riding a stationary bike may be safer than, say, cycling on the road, especially during the latter months of pregnancy.

Try not to get overheated for long periods of time, since your baby's temperature can start to climb, too. Don't practice yoga in a room hotter than 100 degrees or marathon-train under a scorching sun. (We lazy gals wouldn't do that anyway, would we?)

I was told nearly anything you did while you weren't pregnant, you can still do when you are....within reason. Weights, jogging, biking etc. They told me stay away from floor routines, abdominal routines and as always keep your heart rate at taget for your age, not sky rocketing above that. I honestly found that walking and tae bo (slowed a bit) was great. I only gained 6 lbs total and had a chunky 8 lb 14 oz healthy baby. Oh, and remember healthy foods is key to not gaining 50 lbs too! Good Luck

Walk a lot. I was walking when i was pregnant and did not gain a lot of weight. Most of my weight was from being in the hospital for 2 weeks before delivery.

I saw a CD of Jane Fonda's Low-Impact Aerobics that was led by a pregnant woman. So I guess it's OK to do mild aerobics.

Swimming and walking are the two absolute best exercises for pregnant ladies. Low-impact, gentle, but effective.

Congrats!

WALK WALK WALK I have never been so serious in my entire life. Walk as much as you can and drink plenty of water. Try a yoga because it not only strengthens your mind and muscles and soul but it teaches you proper breathing techniques.
