Ah yes. Someone who believes in, and practices, Judeo-Christian values as contained in the Old and New Testaments. A lifestyle based on the 10 commandments and the tolerance, understanding, acceptance, forgiveness, and love taught in the New Testament. Someone who's religion is not a political agenda. Someone who's religion is not a tool to control the thinking and behavior of others. A true Christian respects, loves, accepts, and befriends others of good character regardless of their religion. This could go on forever, but I think you get my drift.

First and foremost, a Christian has accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and tries to follow Christ-like principles. I love bigvol662004's answer. He really nailed it.
We all hate it when a "bad" Christian makes the rest of us look bad. But the truth is, Christians are human too. And even though they love God, they still have faults and sin. God loves us all anyway! :-)

A true christian is the one that suffers a lot, struggles with worldly things, wants to be different, be a light shining God's glory, knows that Love=Suffer. Try to have as much as possible of Love, faith, hope, ... fight for patience, humbleness, self control, goodness, rightousness, wants to be like Jesus, even though, we know that we are sinners.

I think that a true christian is one who upholds the values of Jesus Christ. The real values of Christ and not the ones that are espoused by evangelists and preachers who use the bible to further their own twisted views of the world.
I think that the values of "honoring your father and mother" and "Love they neighbor as thyself" which Jesus said are the greatest commandments are wonderful tenents. I think that the idea of loving your neighbor is wonderful, and that if we treated all people like brothers, we would have a much better world.
I believe that as Jesus did, we should wash the feet of lepers and we should pardon and assist prostitutes and those of our society that need the most help. Instead, we scream at those we don't understand. Instead our society denies basic rights like marriage and acceptance to gay couples. Instead our society supports men like Fred Phelps who prostitutes himself out to the media not for God, but for his own purposes.
Being a true Christian is about loving, never about hating.

A true Christian is someone who loves God and their neighbor, finds God through his Son Jesus, and seeks to understand God, the Bible, and leaves the judgement of others to God.
That may not look like 3 lines, but in the editor it is!

Someone who is Christlike. Someone who does not judge others, someone who is not a hypocrite, someone who walks with God and lives with his word, not just shows up for church on Sunday and puts on a show and goes home and for the rest of the week does whatever he wants. One who is considerate and willing to help others, one who is kind and loving and respectful. One who talks, listens, cares and doesn't put you down for your faults.
Sorry - I am on a roll.
Do you need more?

there are no good christians... for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (ooppss sorry--that i believe was a quote).
a good christian is someone who have sinned (and of course continue to, one way or another) but have seen how God have forgiven him.
in the same way, he has seen how small and insignificant he is as compared to the all powerful Creator of heaven and earth.

I would suppose a goood Christian would be one that could actually follow ALL of the tenents of their God. However, it is proven just by surfing this site that none of them do.....
How many Christians can stand up in here and say that they have never judged another person? Have never engaged in premarital sex? Never gotten a divorce? Have never eaten shellfish? Has fed and clothed the poor with their own money? The list is exhaustive......
Thats not a hate answer - it is just the truth. Cant hate me for speaking the truth.....

Quoting the Bible (well Jesus) makes the most sense:
Love God w/ all your heart, mind, soul and strength,
Love your neighbor as yourself.
It's that simple. The debates are about what love is and looks like.
