Like humans, many animals can have false pregnancies, including cats and dogs. If you are absolutely certain it's a false pregnancy, it will run its course and will cause her no harm. She may simply have a very maternal nature.
Spaying your cat will not necessarily put a stop to the behavior. We have a spayed assessment cat at our facility that "nurses" the other cats regularly even though she has no milk. However, spaying your cat will help to prolong its life and keep it safe from some forms of cancer.
We had a spayed dog in our shelter who was so maternally inclined that her teats would swell whenever she saw puppies or kittens...

Maybe she's just going into heat. Seriously, go to the vet and have her spayed. Problem solved!

I don't know what to do for your cat, but I'd say hand her over to the government for experimental testing--you have the oldest "kitten" in the world! Maybe they'll find out how to make us stay younger longer.

It's not harmful whatsoever, I think it's more painful for us to watch them like that, but to them it's natural. Don't worry about it!
