Cause he was pious and true amongst the depravity, right? Hmmm. How can a guy who offered up his virginal daughters for gang-rape to a baying mob be in any way worthy of "saving". Benefit of the doubt, he was calling God's bluff that if he offered, God's boys would lay down some smiting moves - which, naturally, they did. Just the fact that he DID offer that doesn't sit well... Any God fearing/loving religious types out there today that would do the same?

More to the point, having escaped S&Gs decadence, just how much wine did he then need to deflower both of his daughters over consecutive nights and wouldn't the bad@ss hangover give him some clue that something ain't right? Yeah yeah, they spiked him no doubt but, an honest mistake once, perhaps - two nights on the trot we're struggling.

Anyway, he's one of the "good" guys - saved by the God of the Torah, Bible and Quran. What sort of God writes a ticket for a man like Lot? Debate, comments, fire and brimstone all welcomed :)

Compared to the other residents of Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot and his family were the only ones worth saving. Abraham goes through a lengthy debate with God about how many people it takes in order to spare the city. He tells Abraham that if ten good people can be found, He will spare the city. That tells you a lot about how merciful God is. Finally, God tells Abraham to get Lot and his family out because they are the only ones worth saving.
Did Lot sin by offering his daughters? It certainly seems so but consider that Lot was trying to protect God's messengers. Lot knew what kind of people were in the city. He knew the perversion they had in store for these angelic messengers. He could not allow God's messengers to be abused. He offered his virginal daughters to protect the angels. Perhaps he knew that the men would not want his daughters, knowing the kind of perversion that they preferred. In any case, the angels blinded the mob and protected Lot's family and removed them from the destruction.
The loss of Lot's wife surely bothered Lot's mental state as well as the loss of his home in the city. What the girls did seems rather gross to us but it sounds like they had good motives. Maybe they were worried about never finding good husbands. How could not know what was going on seems rather incredible to us as well. You will note that there is little or no mention of Lot after this incident. He goes down into historic oblivion. Even from the beginning, Lot was flawed because when Abraham and Lot arrived in the Land of Canaan, Lot picked the best land for himself and left Abraham with the lesser land, yet Abraham prospered and Lot did not do as well. When Sodom was captured by foreign people, it was Abraham that took his own servants and defeated the foreigners and rescued Lot and all the other captives.
Thus, we see that God truly blessed Abraham because of his faithful obedience whereas Lot became no more than an object lesson in the scriptural record.
The point I am making is that all of us are on a sliding scale of righteousness versus wickedness. God blesses us according to the blessings we need and deserve. Likewise, we tend to suffer the consequences of our disobedience. Our flaws tend to come back and haunt us. Consider that by impregnating his own daughters, he was getting payback for having offered them to the mob just a little while before.
Just a thought.

Lot was once a just man. But he made a mistake-like all humans do-by moving to Sodom. When he moved to Sodom he was corrupted by the people; therefore he made many foolish mistakes after that. Proverbs 13:20 explains about being around fools. Also, he was Abraham's nephew and God knew how much Abraham cared for Lot, so that was also a contributing factor for his salvation. Don't think that he'll back a "bad guy", he won't. Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Ephesians 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
He can save you from your sin, and he will. 2 Peter 3:9

Yup. the international has executed the style of outstanding interest or attempting to prefer GOD into non existence that now we can't even see the motivation at the back of somebody attempting to honor him by sacrificing a relatives member to guard his angels. in case you nonetheless examine you will see that the angels did no longer want conserving and GOD does no longer enable Lot to sacrifice his daughters virginity. that's a great photograph of ways silly our perfect plans are and how wicked the international became decrease back then. we are no longer from now on civilized on the instant then we've been 5000 years in the past. we've made great advancements in technologies jointly as we devolutionize ourselves socially and morally.

This is a good story, it's really about Abraham, God and Abraham were good friends, God chose to save Lot and his family for the sake of Abraham, by grace, not because Lot was worthy. And the story is still true today. Which of us is worthy of saving? But God's grace is still real, and He saves us anyway. I get hope from this story. I was saved after friends prayed that I would meet Jesus, and He answered because He loved me and listened to them. I pray for my family and know that God will answer my prayers too.
As for the drunk stuff, isn't it comforting that the Bible doesn't portray everyone as perfect but shows them warts and all. King David committed adultery, Solomon married foreign women, Abraham pretended his wife was only his sister so he wouldn't be killed for her. Imperfect people, all used mightily by God.

He offered his daughters to save two 'strangers to the city' who turned out to be angels. The people of S&G would have raped them otherwise, as it says.
