Assuming you are asking of Police Dog Saxon of Gwent Police in the U.K., as of 8/9/06 Police Dog Saxon was "...currently being cared for at police kennels alongside other police dogs receiving the same high standards of care and exercise." This means he probably is being handled by a number of different men/woman.

After an appeal by the family of Saxon's former handler, Mike Townley, who worked with the dog between 2003 and 2006 when Saxon's licence was withdrawn after Saxon bit a kennel worker. Gwent Police offered the dog to the prison service. But a spokesman for HM Prison Service found Saxon was "not suitable as a potential prison patrol dog".

His Status remains uncertain.

P.S. There is another police dog Saxon. See http://www.fresnostatenews.com/2002/November/Saxon.html
