One favor I saw at a wedding that was a cute idea, was to lay out postcards for favors and have the guests fill them out at the wedding with stories or words of wisdom for the new couple. The couple had them all addressed and stamped so that after the wedding they could be mailed back to the couple and read after the honeymoon.
This couple chose a lot of different ones from around their state, but could also choose ones from different places you have travelled.

I made the favors for my wedding last year. They were little flower pots (from the craft store) that were glued to wooden heart-shaped bases. I glued a small clothespin on each of them and put little fake flowers (from the craft store) in the pots. I wrote the date and my husband and I's initials on the base. Everyone LOVED them. They really didn't take that long to make either. No artistic ability required. I recruited my mom and my husband to help me with them. People used them to put our pictures in. Hope this helped. Good luck.
p.s. You can also try going to theknot.com or googling wedding favors.

I, too, am trying to come up with something unique for my wedding favors and from what I have heard, people love food! Something that won't end up in the junk drawer or in the trash.
www.wickedgoodcookies.com
AWESOME site for personalized cookies. They have photo cookies. You could take a nice photo of you and your fiance and have them put it on a cookie! Or, they can take anything and put it on a cookie. Tie the cookie in a nice bag or in cello wrap, put a "thank you" for attending card and you'll be good to go!
Or, chocolate covered pretzels with decorations (jimmies/sprinkles) in our wedding colors. These are super easy to make at home.
www.mms.com - they have personalized M & M's! 21 colors to choose from including a cream color & dark green! You can put your names and wedding dates on them. Very cute idea. Get some organza (?) bags and put them inside.

A friend of mine did something that I'm stealing from her for my wedding. Since I'm stealing, why not pass it to you. She had CD's made with their pictures on the front, their names, and (of course) wedding date. The songs on the inside were some of their favorites and on the side of the CD were actually the guests' names and table numbers, so the CD served 2 purposes. Hope this helps! Congrats & Good Luck!

My sister had sugar cookies with their initials in icing. It was also her second wedding. Her colors were ivory and brown. The icing was ivory with their initials in brown. They were wrapped in clear little bags with brown ribbon. The bakery took care of it all. Turned out great!

Give them something useful that they will keep and Remeber you by.
Personalized favors are extremely popular. Favors are a great way to commemorate any special occasion and when a personal message is attached, the favor takes on more meaning for the guests.

They have some really great unique items - like tea packets with your name on them or coffe - and everyone likes that. Possibilities are endless. What about jordan almonds in a little brown mesh bag with ribbon? Most people don't hold onto favors anyway - so it's nice to give something that is useable.

First, congratulations on your marriage!
I have seen two ideas for favors lately that I wished I'd seen or thought of at my wedding.
The first is Herhey Kisses put together to look like a lond stemmed rose put in a small bud vase at each seat with the bride & groom's names and date of the wedding engraved on the vases. You can get them done in virtually any color.
The second thing I saw was wine glasses (they were really skinny & looked like champange flutes) with the bride & groom's names and the date of the wedding engraved on them. They were at each guest's seat and tied with ribbons that matched their colors. They used them for the champange toast during the reception, then the guests got to bring them home.
I actually did the engraving on the glasses, they were really cool looking. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at dreamgirl_kiki@yahoo.com.
Good Luck!!

If you have the time and a relatively small wedding...personalized favors are really neat. One thing I saw at a wedding was hand-made candles with the name of each person on them.
