I'm in the market for a religion, but the choice available is overwhelming to an inexperienced shopper such as I.

I want one that has all the answers to all my questions, and even answers for questions I haven't even thought of yet. I don't want any excuse to think up theories of my own, and would welcome one that has a book I can refer to, preferably a book that contains some pretty unpleasant stories to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Which one?

What do you need religion for?
I order to live a good, happy and productive life you do not need religion.
If you live your life with integrity. you will not need religion.

Religion is for people who lack the understanding of just being a good person. because it is the right thing to do. every human being on the planet knows what is right and what is wrong. you don't need a ten commandment to understand that.

everything in life is a choice. If you want to live in peace. always choose to do the right thing. and you really do know what the right thing to do is. you really do. you just have to choose.
do you want to live free from emotional pain, worry, and be free
just do not do unethical things. it is not religion. it is living the truth.
religion is a mask and a place to hide behind a place where you go when you have done wrong and you think that some god will forgive you for your errors. there is no room for error. just behave with love

Christianity fits the bill for what you're looking for. It has a book that you can refer to (the Bible) and some of the stories are pretty gruesome.

It also contains the answers to all of your questions in the interpretation of the Bible. The answers are pretty cut and dry in there, if you chose to accept them. A lot of people read the answers and think "Well I don't like that answer. I need to come up with a better one."

But, you didn't say that one of your requirements was that you agree with the answers, just that it has the answers.

Best of luck to you!

If you want a book that answers questions about life, try "In the Light of Truth - The Grail Message" by Abd-ru-shin; if you want the one with pretty unpleasant stories, try the "Holy Bible"; if u desire one with fantastic stories about the inner worlds, go for "Shariyat-ki-Sugmad". As for religion, no one but you can decide what suits you. Examine as many scriptures as you have time to, then make up your mind about whether or not any of them suits you, without being imposed upon.

Buddhism. They are open-minded, like you are, and would never judge you on how you lead your life. You don't have to follow false gods or saints, you just have to focus on your own spiritual advancement. Meditate and learn about yourself, the universe and anything that is part of the universe. There are lots of questions you'd be able to answer if you meditate and could raise even further questions that may pop up. You wouldn't have to follow priests or congregations, however, you could ask for guidance. You'd become a peace-loving person who understands and accepts everybody.

The answer is obvious! Become a Jedi. It is now an official religion in the UK as of the 2001 census when over 180,000 people stated their religion Jedi.

It will keep your mind focused, temptation at bay and when you die there will be no expensive funural, as you simply vanish, becoming one with The Force.

I guess you're not going to have ANY religion! Because no religion has all the answers, because there will always be someone that will disagree with you. Of course, there is ONE religion, that has the answers. I am a Christian. But you know what? A lot of people disagree with me, but I still believe. Have faith, and an open heart.

Religions are a dime a dozen.
Go for the relationship and advaenture with Jesus.

Religion is man's way of getting to God. Man will have you light candles, bother people door to door, ride around in a bike, worship cows, play with snakes, donate? all your money, pray to a staue, etc
God's way to him is by following Him.
Read the Word.
Watch Christian Prigramming, Trinity Broadcasting Network, TBN, for example.

Any religion teaching respect, kindness and understanding and sets an example themselves are worth a start. Don't get too complex, that is not true religion.
