You people? what do you mean you people?
I believe we die. Nothing happens afterward, besides the burial or cremation of course.

I'm sure you have heard the expression that God made man in his own image. My opinion is the opposite is true. Man created the concept of God to explain what he didn't understand and to bring order to his life. One of the things I imagine primitive man had trouble is this idea of existence and what happens when we die and eventually came up with the concept of Heaven. They didn't sit down a come up with this all at once. The beliefs expanded and developed over the centuries, influencing and being influenced by various cultures. As to what happens when we die, who knows. It could be nothingness, non existence. That's a hard concept for the human mind to grasp. Perhaps there is a life force, a spirit if you want to use that term, that is released when we die and is not bound to the same limitations as our physical bodies. Some might call them ghosts. Bottom line is I don't think we've made significant progress on answering the question of what happens when we die over the past several thousand years.
Anyway, that's my opinion in a simplified version. Others no doubt will disagree.

I personally, am not quite sure whether I believe in God or not. How can anyone or any religious group be so self righteous as to be certain that their assumptions are correct? What about Buddhist? How do we know that they have not been correct all along? There really is no way of knowing until the end. I feel that you should believe in what you believe in and not concern yourself with what everyone else thinks. I can't stand it when people try pushing their religion on everyone else because, "they need to be saved" or "they should have a relationship with God"! It's very boundary breaking. If you have values and beliefs, that's fabulous. But that does not mean everyone needs to share them with you.

Jesus was a Jewish Apocolyptic. He believed that the end-of-time was at hand. He taught that when we die we stay dead until the end of time at which time we would rise and enter the kingdom of heaven.
I think this message is skipped over in Sunday school and is also a bit harsh so it has eventually been deprecated or put to the side.
But the gist of this is that even Jesus taught that when we die that that was it. End of story -at least until the end of time.
So back to the question, I don't qualify to answer becasue I do believe in a supreme being but have some difficulty with organized religion. I believe our consciousness, spirit, soul does go to a place outside of time and space -heaven if you like to think that way.

When we die, it's like before we were born. Nothing.
I don't believe in god because:
- There is no proof, and has never been any proof for over 4 billion years.
- If there was a god, there would be no innocent deaths, extinctions (dinosaurs for example), or HItlers.
- If there was a god, then there would be no natural disasters.
- If there was a god, then churches wouldn't fall into ruin like they do.
- If there was a god, there would be no 3rd world countries or starving people.
- If there was a god, there would be no black people. (god creates in his own image)
- If there was a god, there would be no rasicm etc.
- If there was a god, then there would actually be something special happening at Xmas.
- If there was a god, there wouldn't be a perfectly good scientific explanation for everything.

Nobody knows what happens when we die. People just hope for certain things to be true. That's faith--a very strong hope. I don't have a clue what will happen when I die. Neither do you. You hope for something to be true, I don't.
There are many, many reasons people don't believe in god. I'm agnostic, that's why I don't believe. But anything is possible!

It's not believing in God, it's the way people portrays the Deity of God, I believe there is only one God and that he/ she comes down to each religion as the God they believe in. When we die we go to to another plane and have a choice of if we want to come back to the earth as another or remain on that plane to assist our families who are still on the earth

I don't think anything happens after we die, I believe that is it - we're worm food or ash.
And why don't I believe in God? Why should I? I can't be proved to me (while alive) that God (or any other higher power) exists.
I prefer to live a 'good' life, helping others and treating people well for it's own sake, rather than because I believe it'll take me to 'heaven' after death. Organised religion has caused enough horror in the world for me thanks

I don't believe in good because all religion is invented by man. It is used to control you and thrives on fear such as you will not go to heaven etc.
When you die you rot and go back into the big cycle of life. All your body composition is adsorbed and gives life to plants, worms and animals that in turn give life to humans.
Now if you ask me do I believe in people having a soul / spirit then I'd have to say yes in so far as others feel the presence of close friends alive and departed.

I don’t understand why people insist on this idea that your mind is somehow separate from your body. Your thoughts only exist because you brain is generating them. All the things that make who you are, are PHYSICAL connections in your brain that are created during your life. If you destroy them you are also destroying what makes you unique. So the answer is nothing because your mind is gone. The energy that was running it all will just dissipate as heat.
I don't believe in god because it is a ridiculous idea with no evidence to back it up.
