Hi - I know of three small dogs that have survived it with a lot of TLC and medication. The younger and weaker a dog is, the less it's chances - but, like I said, I know of three dogs that have survived. Vaccinations prevent this, but I have also learned that if the first vaccines are given while the mom's breast milk antibodies are still in effect, it may not take and the pup is vulnerable even when you didn't know...Hope things go well

Hi.. my puppy (back in February) had parve, she was very sick and almost dead. I took her to the vet and the vet didnt give her any amount of time to live. He told me she probably wont make it thru the next few days, I had a choice to have her put down right then or spend alot of money on her and TRY to fight the disease. Well. I felt really bad and I am an animal lover, so I decided to take the chance and keep her and try to fight the disease. She now is the best dog Ive ever had and shes a spoiled little thing. I would do it over again if I had to.

I have fostered several for differnt rescues that have broke with parvo. I kept my first and several other volunteers end up keeping their first. Its like they are so greatful for their survival that they become your true baby of the bunch.

I have two at the vet right now. One is off his iv's, eating and solid poo. The other is starting to eat. They will be fine and ready for adoption next week.

Parvo is a virus that has to run its course. They don't actually die from Parvo they die from dehydration. I have also treated parvo at home but it is worth the cost to keep the ick out of the house if you don't know what you are doing.

OMG Brain damage. The people on here are more brain damaged than any parvo dog I have dealt with. Mine is too smart for his own good and he was the worse because he was my first I didn't know what was going on with him.

The chances of a full grown dog surviving are better than a puppy surviving it. I have had litters of pups that got it and in the particular litter I remember there was 8 pups, and only 3 lived. Its hard. But there are vaccines you can get through you r veterinarian.

I had a dog when i was in middle school that had parvo. We had to feed him Pedialyte every 3 or 4 hours by syringe. We also had to give him medicine every so many hours. It is very hard, and tiresome, but very much worth the effort. He is still alive today, and that has been over 10 years ago.

Depends on the overall health of the dog - I had a puppy that had Parvo - the Vet gave him a 60% chance of dying and 40% living. We went and saw him before and after work, made sure he knew he was loved and he pulled threw it and made a full recovery.

"Parvo" is a very virulent disease, but if treated better than 80% of the dogs who get it survive it. It's only an absolute death sentence if you do nothing. If your dog has it, it can also spread it to other dogs, so you'd need to get your dog to a vet for treatment IMMEDIATELY.

Slim, but it's happened. My family's dog got it @ 3 months old, and he survived only because of a LOT of TLC and a huge, huge vet bill. Get the doggie to the vet asap!

Working in a rescue, I get to talk to vets all the time. They tell me that If they get the puppy soon enough, they can now save approx. 80% of them.
