go to a rehab clinic - they can teach you how to manage your life without feeling like you need pills. don't quit cold turkey - that would be very difficult and may be life-threatening since you have been on pills for so long.

First of all, you have to remember that every human behavior, good or bad, whether it's volunteering at a community center, or smoking crack, has a positive INTENT. Meaning, there is a part of you that truly believes the behavior is beneficial and is providing you with something you need very much, even though you may know very well, on a conscious level, that it is destructive. What may be helpful to you is a Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) technique developed by Dr. Connie Rae Andreas of Colorado called "Core Transformation". I've used this technique successfully with clients with many addiction problems ranging from cocaine to eating disorders. I suggest you read her book, "Core Transformation - Reaching the Wellspring Within". Then seek out a certified NLP Practitioner in your area and schedule a consultation. The website below will help you learn about NLP and find a practitioner in your area.

One thing I've learned over the years, both as a practitioner of behvioral healing arts, and as a former addict myself is that the hardest part of stopping any addictive behavior is making the decision and the commitment to do it - regardless of any pain or suffering you must endure. That doesn't mean that you MUST endure pain and suffering to change, but you must be WILLING to do what may be necessary.

This can be very difficult when a part of you knows you must stop this behavior or you will die, but another part (or parts) believe that you will die if you stop the behavior.

The Core Transformation process can integrate the parts of your subconscious mind so they can work in tandem to generate new behaviors that achieve their intentions in ways that are EVEN BETTER than before. It creates a win-win situation within your psyche so that all the "parts" get what they want, allowing the change to occure naturally and peacefully from the very core of your being outward.

I wish you peace and good health.

Honestly I take pills to and you just want them all the time you have to figure a way to stay away from them. If you want to stop you can! All you have to do is figure out a plan then follow through. I know it is hard but if you have the motivation you will be all good. Good Luck . I am not ready to stop yet....
