When he has blatantly ducked Margarito, his arrogance astounds me.

In my opinion, Floyd says a lot of things. He said "No" to 8 million dollars to fight Antonio Margarito. That's more than considerably less than he's getting to fight Baldomir, like close to 6 million considerably less. He beat up a very beaten up Gatti, he beat a little ego compared to humongous ego in Judah. Who has he beaten? There's talk of him fighting De La Hoya, don't hold your breath. Anyone that posses any chance of a threat against "Pretty Boy" will see no action with him anytime soon. Baldomir is a tough cookie, but he doesn't belong in the ring with Floyd, everyone in the boxing world knows why he took this fight, It's the easiest fight out there no risk, run away, tuck his head into his left shoulder and avoid any chance of an risk. Pound for Pound use to mean something now it means Dollar for Dollar. Thanks Frank D.

Uh, maybe because he *is* the best fighter in the world pound for pound? That's not only my opinion but the opinion of The Ring magazine, BoxRec, and at least 90% of the experts I know. Baldomir is no slouch, so its not like Mayweather isn't fighting top level opponents. I like Margarito, but a lot of people were of the opinion that Diego Corrales' power would be too much for Mayweather when they fought and "Pretty Boy" destroyed him.

And, yes, Mayweather is astoundingly arrogant. But when he steps between the ropes I consider him to be the best there is.

Many a fighter in the history of boxing has been arrogant. He will eventually have to back his talk up. The thing that astounds me is that how do you turn down an offer to fight any boxer for 10 million? That's what they upped the offer for him to fight Margarito. That is the astounding thing!

First off every fighter who is elite believes he/she/it is the best in the world. Have you ever heard a top notch fighter say anything different?

"I am the #24th fighter in the world"...

Moving on..Floyd Mayweather Jr. became a welterweight back on November 19th of 2005 when he stopped Sharmba Mitchell and then signed to fight Zab Judah, who at the time was THE lineal undisputed champion of the world. Judah however went on to lose to Carlos Baldomir in January. Mayweather fought Judah, who even with the loss, made for a rather successful PPV card in April. Now Floyd has lined up Baldomir, who is THE lineal welterweight champion of the world for November 4th.

I dont think I have said anything too crazy so far. So lets keep going...

In this same time frame, Antonio Margarito has fought ONE round, which he did in February against a shot fighter named Manuel Gomez in one of the boxing's worst PPV cards of the year, which says a lot.

In essence what you are suggesting, and lets make it real simple, is that Mayweather is avoiding a contender in Margarito with a paper title, to get to the undisputed champion of the world, Baldomir.

So, continuing one...Mayweather, in a matter of ONE year, will have surpassed what Margarito has done at welterweight the past decade.

From the time Mayweather fought at 147 to the time he fights for THE title on November 4th, he will have fought Judah, Mitchell and Baldomir, while Margarito, with one of boxing's best promoters Bob Arum, has fought a single round.

To pour salt on the wound and rub it in, Margarito has lined up Joshua Clottey, coming off an awful showing on HBO over the summer, for a December fight on Showtime [yes, that will be 20 months with ONE round in the ring] and will have side stepped his own mandatory #1 challenger Paul Williams for his paper WBO title.

So Margarito gets a pass while he is out of the ring doing nothing and calling out fighters, skipping and delaying his own mandatory fight with his #1 contender, while Mayweather Jr. fights for THE welterweight title. And all of this demanding to fight Mayweather, who hasn't even been at Margarito's weight class for a year, is coming from a guy who lost to Daniel Santos four fights ago in a boring fight on HBO and who just did 30K PPV buys with the Gomez fight. Wow...

I'll take my 'thumbs down' for this answer, but hey you asked...

EDIT: AHHH...The truth hurts....It stinks that an arrogant fella like Mayweather has done more in a single year than Margarito has done over his entire career....How about Margarito gets off the bench himself and does something...

Easy! Floyd Mayweather Jr. is not a welterweight! He's too small! Margarito is not a welterweight. He's too BIG for Floyd. Yes! He's avoiding Margarito and he's not the only one. And I don't blame them. Antonio Margarito can take out Mayweather anyday. To be P4P the best, you have to beat the best and take any challenge. I'll call him Fraud Mayweather.

How can he proclaim himself best p4p? He doesn't have to. All he has to do is open an issue of "KO" or "Ring" and they say it for him. I hope he does fight Margarito, it would be a great fight. Mayweather is focused on "cashing in", his constant hounding of Arturro Gatti was evidence of that, Gatti was not even in his league but he knew that Gatti would fetch a big payday. cha ching..

When you are proclaimed that by Ring magazine, you can call yourself that. Most experts in the sport will agree with him. Mayweather said that if a fighter does not believe he is the best in the world then he should not be in boxing. I agree.

FOR ANYONE TO CLAIM THAT THEY ARE THE BEST IN THE
WHOLE WORLD POUND FOR POUND, SHOULD FIGHT EVERYONE IN THE WORLD BUT THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE AND IS AN
OVER STATEMENT OF ARROGANCE. MAYWEATHER NO
DOUBT IS A GREAT BOXER, BUT MANY GREAT BOXERS IN
THE PAST HAVE MADE THAT SAME STATEMENT AND HAVE
FALLEN LIKE GOLIATH. THEN AGAIN, BIG TALK NEVER LEARNS. BIG TALK TAKES A FALL
