What does it make you feel? Think?

My favorite painting is "Christina's World" by Andrew Wyeth. I get an uneasy feeling of melancholy and loneliness when looking at this picture. There are lots of empty space and the colors are low saturated and cold (different to the ones on this online reproduction) giving the picture a sense of sadness and emptiness but this is broken by the tension on other elements. The strong diagonal lines on her body, her hands crouching the ground, the compositional triangle between her face, the barn and the house and the flock of birds flying away from the barn tells me that something happen, something sudden and tragic. Christina is left behind, she wants to but she is helpless. What did just happen in Christina's World?

It's titled "Strokes For Her Majesty" by Toni Taylor. The colors grabbed me the first time I saw it. Makes me wonder what is was really like living in Egypt during the time of Pharoahs and Queens.

La Belle Dame Sans Merci is a good one too. Similar.

Klimt's "The Kiss" It evokes a feeling of passion and has on occasion, made me blush.
