The best bridesmaid gift I ever recieved was a foot spa massager (OMG great gift on it's own) filled with bath beads, lotions, perfumes, a cd, a box of chocolates, a small bottle of wine w/ wine glasses, slipper socks (really loved these especially the evening after the wedding when my feet were sore), A keychain that read "I survived Laina's wedding and all I got was this keychain" and a gift certificate for a full day spa treatment (usable for 1 year)...
Inside each gift was a personalized hand written letter from the bride thanking each us and telling us many of the little reasons she appreciated our friendship and appreciated us supporting her even in her moments of Bridezilladom (she only had a couple and they only lasted a couple moments each),,, We each received slightly different perfumes and cd's ect. to our individual tastes, making them each personal while also being uniform..

I did not get a gift either time I was a bridesmaid, I was not expecting a gift, I was just happy to be a bridesmaid for my friends! These are modern traditions that have been added over the years, just an added expense and not really a necessary thing.

Considering you pick a bridesmaid because they are a dear friend, the best present was a picture of us having fun together. Before we started blowing each other off for our men, and when we were so close that we were like sisters.
A picture like that is worth a lot to me. It came in a frame that said, "Friends Forever." It was a silly picture too, so it made me laugh. I look at that and have some great memories, and know that we are still friends. Even if we are married and have kids!

I have enough jewlrey from pervious bridesmaid experiences, that if I never get jewlrey for being a bridesmaid again, that would be awesome. The best I got was a giftbasket that the bride personalized for each of her bridesmaids. It included a box of chocolates, a CD, and some other stuff I can't remember. It was great, and I used everything in it.

I know this sounds hokey, but my favorite bridesmaid gift was photos from the wedding. The professional portraits cost so much, and since I was IN the wedding, it's not like I could take pictures myself, so the bride bought me some pictures and put them in a small album.
One of my friends bought her bridesmaids a gift certificate for manicures and pedicures for the next 3 months. They seemed pretty happy.
Good luck!

I gave my bridesmaids beer of the month club. They all thought it was a riot and every month we got together and drank the beer and ate and hung out. 4 out of the 5 renewed their memberships!

The bride bought books for us, each unique to our interests. Then she wrote a nice note on the inside. It was nice to get a personal gift that would actually be used.

A pair of pearl earrings. We all wore them for the wedding and I still wear them to this day. It's nice to give something that these girls will actually use and want to use forever. Plus it will remind them of you and their special day each time they use it.
