Don't worry she be fine I'm sure, in fact why don't you ring the vets right now and I'm sure they will say it is all over now and she is fine.

Hello. I would try not to worry to much. Operations are done on dogs with heart murmers everyday. Special considerations are given when operating on dogs like these and precautions can be taken to ensure the op goes well. The op itself is major but is usually successful and as long as the surgeon is happy with this type of surgery there should be no worries there. If u have any concerns then ur vet would be more than happy to answer them for u.

8 1/2 is categorized as an older dog, but surely the vet gave you the chances before the surgery. If your dog is otherwise healthy, heart murmur notwithstanding, she should come out ok. I understand completely...my pit bull terrier was hit by a car, and shattered his hip. The vet said he could fix him, but he would need two more surgeries as he aged, or he could just make the fix where he could limp around. I chose the two more surgeries option and I am so very glad I did. Even if I had lost him from some freak surgery complication, my choice to help him was the only one I could make.
Be strong, dear one.

this is a routine surgery. they should be able to do a blood check prior to the surgery to check how she will be effected. if the heart murmer is only slight, she should be fine! i have had many dogs with slight murmers and they came out of a spay or neuter just fine. (i know thats not what you are having done, i'm just giving an example) remember crate rest after the surgery!

Our dog is over 12 and she has had a few operations where she has had to have an anaesthetic. She was fine. If the vet did not think she would pull through the operation, they would not have gone ahead with it. I know every operation has risks but your dog would have suffered if left untreated. Still I know what you mean. We worry every time ours has to have something done. Good luck and I am sure she will be okay.

I have 2 little poms and my 8 year old male just had the same surgery last year. he came thru it just find=e and dandy! He is my baby so I know how much u r worried and frightened for him! The vet is aware of the heart murmor so he will keep a very close eye on it. If he didnt think the pup would survive the surgery he wouldnt be doing it! I think she will be just fine sweetheart! When u get her home just give her all kinds of extra love and food she totally loves and she will be back to normal before u know it! My heart goes out to u

I know how hard it is when your dog's having surgery, but try not to worry. I'm sure you trust your vets and anesthics have been improved so much over what they used to be, your girl will be just fine! Vets always do blood work nowadays on older dogs before surgery so they know exactly what's going on with your dog before they operate. She'll be fine!

Our dog is 12 years old and she had a tumour the size of a small football removed from her stomach. It was touch and go but have confidence in your Vet. Hope your dog is OK and pulls through.
