Canon Elura 80 runs from $290-310 It got 4 out of 5 stars.

Don't buy one that says "Refurbished" on the bottom. Those have been repaired and returned and are a headache. Get one that's new.

The best thing to do is to look through the consumer reports either magazines or websites. If this doesnt help I would suggest just going to several stores and asking alot of questions.

I have a jvc mini dv. I really like it, but it doesnt record at night so well. I only spent 300 for it, so I think it was well worth the price.
