No, and its the delayed entry program. Everyone has to be in it for atleast a few weeks before they go to boot camp. I am 20 years old and in college and in the DEP. But anyways...
At the pool functions you just meet with the other poolees and probably do some PT, drill or work on USMC knowledge. Sometimes we just go and play football.

For the first person who answered, he is not an actual Marine yet, not even a recruit. USMC Deffered Enlistment Program means he is too young or in 11th Grade correct?
Pool could be 2 things, evaluate your swim skills because the Marines give you a swim qualification and rating. Or just Pool of DEP's getting together to run a Physical Fitness Course again to evaluate you before you enlist.

A poollie is what you are called. My hubby was in the D.E.P. when he joined. So at a pool function you could be doing many things. What he did was activities to prepare him for boot camp. Physical Fitness, and various other activities. They aren't as hard as boot camp but do help to prepare you for the lifestyle of boot camp. Hope this helps ya out.⥠OORAH!!

alright, it's a poole function. Its when you, and the other poolees get together and either do some type of training or something that's supposed to be fun.

I think if you're going to be a Marine, you gotta know how to swim a bit. So, this may be a trial to see how well you can do before you're accepted into regular service.
