you experienced being an exchange student? Are there chaperones? It is with a group called People to People, I believe it was started by Eisenhower in the 50's. With such a short trip, would they stay in a hotel or with host families? The parent meeting is not until October 15, so I hoped you could help me out with some information while I'm waiting. Thanks!

Benjamin F--I am excited. You are right. She is too, but we have to see how expensive it is first. I would have LOVED to have had this opportunity as a teen. Especially Australia...that is one of my favorite countries!

Look up the organization on the internet. Ask around the school because other kids might have been invited to. Ask their parents what they think of exchange students and if they are letting their kids go. Talk to the principal of the school and see what he thinks of the program. Since, it is a short trip the might stay at a hotel. Most of the time, for exchange students they stay with host families who have kids the same age as them. Most of the time, the host families are responsible, but if they aren't staying with host families they will be staying at a hotel and there will be chaperones. Our school does an exchange student program, bringing kids from Hong Kong, China, Germany, and other countries all over the world. Well, if you have any more questions...feel free to contact me.

exchanges estudents normally are spoilt by host families.
ussually just join the family as one of their own, aussies are good hosts and take good care of the guest.
i can assure you that as soon as she finish her studies, she will try to go back to Oz... for a longer stay...
