I use advantage. At first it wasnt working but I realized I bought the package under his weight. Now that I bought the stronger kind it works better.
If you dont want to use that youc an always buy Sergents Gold Shampoo for dogs. It will kill the fleas while giving the dog a bath. You have to keep it on the dog for 5 minutes before rinsing. This will not stop the fleas from getting back on the pet.

WHen I was little we had a bad flee problem. My mom would pay attention to where they were really bad in the house. She wold take a small plate and put water in it and set it under one of those plug in lights and that would help them in the house. I dont know of any real solutions that are natural for animals that bring them in the house besids flee products. Wal-mart usually has them for cheep and they are the good brands as well. Hope this all helps.Good luck!

Frontline or Advantage from the vets, anything else is a waste of time. Hoover every day and empty the bag every time, the fleas live on the ground not on the pet. You can get sticky flea traps based around a low wattage light bulb and a yellow sticky pad. And use cotton sheets and towels for pet bedding and boil wash them once a week.

I actually put some garlic oil in my cat's food every week. Just one small capsule of garlic oil... prick it with a pin and then squeeze it over some canned food and mix it up thorougly. Mix it in with some super smelly canned food... lol.
I used to work in a pharmacy and this method was reccommended to me by a customer. Been using it for about 7 years now and so far, so good.
As long as you start doing this when your pet is a puppy/kitten, then they won't kick up a fuss... they will just get used to it.
The fleas don't like the taste of the garlic in the animals blood.

The only guaranteed way of getting rid of fleas is by using prescription only products from your vets. Please do not try using any products from supermarkets or flea collars neither of these work and can harm your pets. The vets can also give u a product that treats your house and also a good vacumm of the house can do the treat for that. I dont think there are any natural products that work.

I watched a freinds dog and ended up with fleas. I tried just about every thing available and even the laundry soap bit. Then I found some "carpet fresh" that was labeled FLEAS. ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CONTAINER.
I used this and sprinkled it on the carpet and left it on longer than the instructions. You have to vacum slow and real good. be sure to empty thevacum container and get it out of your home. They will get out of it. It got rid of the fleas. I had used bombs and everything. This was the only product that worked for me. Good luck.

Some say that Tea Tree oil gets rid of fleas in dogs, not sure about cats, unfortunately fleas only like clean animals and as the flea season is almost upon us maybe you could get something from Pets at Home, they do a good version of their own flea tablets for dogs and they are very good too, we give our dog Program from the vets, its six tablets, they take one each month to give them a good cover from fleas, if fleas get into an animals blood stream it can be very nasty for them and make them ill.

In my opinion Advantage is the safest product for fleas. It works in the hair follicles and does not get into the blood system. I had a drug rep explain how it worked to me. Frontline and the others get in the blood stream and work through it, but not Advantage. It is by far the safest if you have children that will be playing with the animal.

the best and safest way is by hand - with a flea comb and some tape to stick the fleas too...vacuum the house and launder the bedding
all other methods use some chemicals which are always potentially dangerous
the WORST way is with a flea collar - not only have they killed pets but they are rather ineffective
(feeding brewers yeast and/or garlic helps too)

You will need to do 3 things to get rid of the fleas.Wash you dog with a flead medicated shampoo and use advantage or frontline flea killer . Bomb the inside of your house and spray pest killer in your yard. If you dont do all 3 of these things then the chances of reinfestation is pretty good.
