I am a Christian man, and love Jesus. I want to get closer. I do read the bible and pray often. Does anyone have some advise how to get more real and more confident with my faith? Thank you all for your loving responses. God Bless <3

you'll have plenty of time to get close to Jesus when you die.
I'm sure he knows you love him.
for now, I'd concentrate on being closer to your friends, family and your fellow man.

I think the name "knucklehead" fits you well. If you want to get "closer to Jesus", then you gotta do more than just read the bible and pray... anyone can do that, it's really not that committing yourself at all, other than a bit of time on sundays, and maybe a few other times in the day. If you really wanted to commit to Chrstianity, vounteer and help others. Even a non-Christian can understand that Jesus was a good person in life, and following his teachings rather than just reading them is 100 times better. If everyone did rather than say, maybe this would be a better world.

ps I'm not Christian, just appreciate people who can help out others, for whatever reason that may be.

I hope you do know that Jesus is dead! However, getting closer to Jesus is not just in your head but in your heart, so it's not a physical closeness, it's an emotional one.

At the same time, I've always believed that if you walk the path of someone, you become him, you do what he did, go to the places that he visited, then that's the closest you'll ever get to anyone, that includes Jesus.

To do that, you may have to read up on all the historical books, not just the bible (the bible is NOT accurate!), to chart and map the path of Jesus. It may not be the logical thing to do, given that the places he visited are not war-infested, occupied and difficult to get into, but I'm sure that even by studying this path that Jesus walked, it can help you get closer to him.

Good luck!

If you want to get closer to Jesus, the first thing you need to do is throw away the bible and stop being a Christian--Jesus wasn't a Christian. Then you need to go back to the ancient texts available for 2 or 300 hundred years after Jesus and before the Roman church fabricated a religion melding together Jesus plus pagan religions, and coming up with an absurd polytheistic religious mismash.

1. Tithing (you will be surprised how far this simple act of obedience takes you!), and the other half of the obedient act is to be a CHEERFUL giver. I still struggle with this :) Giving offerings above the tithe will bless you, too.
2. Thanking God for blessings, and telling people how God blessed you
3. Volunteering, if you can, with church. But pray first, because if you serve in an area where God isn't leading you, it will be more of a burden then a blessing.
4. Make sure you are obedient...some Christians think they can "wing it" on prayer and faith, without striving for Holiness!! Turn off your TV when it gets raunchy, think about if the music you listen to honors God, and use your time wisely. Make sure you honor God by treating your body appropriately (ie, eat well!)
5. Be HONEST with God. Sometimes He even answers me if I cry out with an honest heart about something I think is unfair or hurts me. We can't draw closer without honesty, and the walls need to come down in every area of our life!

Some things that I do to get closer to Jesus are

* Fast
* Pray
* Study the Bible
* Write down all the sins I can think of and then confess them and ask for forgivenss (that takes a while)
* Write down all the things He has done for me and then praise Him for each one (that takes a while as well)
*Worship
*Do ministry of some sort
*****Think about where I would be with out Him.

One more thing that I would suggest is to visit www.gty.org then type in election in the search box and read the articles. They are short but great!

Be Blessed, I'm praying for you.

You want to get closer to God the things you are doing are good, and believe me everything else will follow in time.
Do a little bit of self-analyzing, think about why you want to get closer to God, i know you say you pray you should pray before and after you read the Bible, and before and after you sleep, and before you go to school/work, talk to God, and remember he hears you always. To get out there and help those in need the people who God created, and loves! this could be someone near, or further a field, and it's not a question of what we do, as to why we do it, and it's because we love God, and the people he created, i believe prayers changes things, so pray non ceasing...you will be closer to God, and you will be heard. Good Luck, and God Bless.

Continue your desire for His understanding.

Continue to study His Word, the biblical record from God.

Continue to fellowship with real christians.

Continue to demonstate His character in your daily life.

And finally search the scriptures to be sure of the things you hear from preachers and individuals that the things said and done are according to His will.

God Bless you on your walk, brother

Thats great knuckle You can ask God about this.
You may want to volunteer somewhere if you can. I used to do that before I started working. I should have been in the Peace Corps long ago!

nicely my own opinion is that once you bypass to church its a place the place you learn and journey some thing staggering. confident human beings have stated that church is a waste a time. yet relatively in case you pay interest what the preacher ought to assert approximately Jesus Christ. then you will start up feeling distinctive yet in a competent way. And seeing issues.
