Not sure what your level of computer expertise is, so please don't be insulted if I sound like I'm talking down to you (I certainly am no computer expert). But here are some things to check:
1) First, does your computer have a working sound card? Many businesses remove or disable sound cards.
2) If so, are your speakers turned on? Is the volume level for both the speakers and the computer turned up?
3) If so, are your speakers plugged into the right sound hole. Most desktop computers have more than one place to plug in speakers. Laptops don't have this problem.
4) If so, check your Device Manager to see if there is a problem with the sound card, such as missing drivers. The Device Manager will indicate if a hardware item is not working correctly.

Hope this helps. If not, is there an IT tech at your company? The one at my company was always very happy to explain why my computer was broken (usually my fault, by the way).

make sure the volume settings are not on mute. look at the little speaker icon in your system tray at the bottom right of your screen. i know that at my office i dont have any speakers i can plug into my computer. so you wont be able to hear much since the sound is coming from the board in the computer.

Barry M sounds like he knows what he is talking about. Some computers have built in speakers and some don't, so if you have a different model than the other girl that got it working, you may not get it working the same way.
