Not everyone is monotheistic. I am a Heathen (A follower of the old Norse Tradition) and I have many different gods and goddesses.
It all comes down to what a person believes in.

Non-monotheistic religions have many gods. Monotheism is a Greek word which means "single God". Religions such as Islam, Christianity and Judiasm are monotheistic religions. I'm not sure if there are others out there but there are plenty which believe in various Gods. We are not all monotheistic.

Well I think even if we are monotheistic, in our actual life we have many choices about our styles, trends, way of life different . Our human mind always longs for new & new things,in similar way this longig goes for religion. people were not satisfied with their original faiths so they joined or established their own faith or religion. As generations went by more & more sects or religion were formed. For E.G. buddhism-jainism-sikh were all ar from ancient India knon as "sea of religion". i.e. "Hindu religion".

Are there many G-ds? It seems that there is mostly one G-d--------just different essences of him, seen in different ways. Even Hindu has only one G-d--just different essences of him in their statues.

Christianity is the only religion that has turned monotheistic religion into a trinity-----------and worship also Jesus, who was just a man.
