I think the virus can live outside of the body for up to two weeks. It can be killed with a solution of 1 part bleach to 10 parts water.

They think the virus can live outside the body for 7-10 days. It is transmittable sexually, and by blood to blood contact. Universal precautions (gloves) should be used when exposed to someone's bodily fluids or blood.
