We just move several hundred miles away from our family. My family is coming to visit, but my husband's family can't come out for a while. We would like to go back and see them, but we would need a really good deal since there are four of us. I have heard about people getting really great deals on airfare with "secret sales" or something of the sort. Where can I find them?

Great question! I've always wondered the same thing because these "free" sites seem to blow a lot of hot air. But I was taken back to an old adage that proves true time and time again: You pay for what you get! There is a small fee involved but you can greatly reduce your airfare and know almost as much information as the flight attendants themselves - try www.expertflyer.com. Good luck with that!

You can name your own price and sometimes save quite a bit on priceline.com. The way to do it is find the lowest internet fare that you see anywhere and then bid a lot less than what that is. They will tell you that that price won't work so then you come up a little bit at a time till they accept your price and usually it will be the best rate that you can find.

If you go directly to your preferred airlines websit, you can usually get reduced fares on Tues or Wed. Sometimes, you just have to keep searching for the great deals.

You have to "dig" a bit because they are "secrets"!

It really depends on your needs.

But, if you plan a trip, try to plan it EARLY. I usually go with Southwest Airlines. They have really great deals and low prices. Plus, if you have children, they let you on the plane first.
