We are getting married by the poolside and the reception and ceremony starts at 5pm. This goes on until 8pm. Bearing in mind that this is in a tropical country, would it still be ok for him to wear a morning suit? Will it look weird?

This is your big day and you have all the right to wear what you guys want! Keep in mind that you are the big celebrities on that day and you can look as unique and as crazy as possible.
What you can do is include a theme in your invitation so your guests can already expect what you will be wearing and what they'll be seeing on with the other guests.
Don't worry too much about your groom, you know people look more on the bride =) so instead of worrying too much about him, have a beauty rest until then so you'll surely look as radiant as you can be. Goodluck and I wish you a blessed married life!

Morning suits are worn in daylight hours. Black or White Tie after 6 or 7 o'clock

Let him wear whatever type of suit he picks out. It will look fine! Morning suits are generally more informal, and it sounds like you're having an informal wedding, so it will work out so long as that's what he wants to wear.

I'm not sure what the difference is in a morning suit and evening suit, but it's your wedding. Let him wear whatever he wants. My groom is wearing flip-flops if that makes you feel any better.

He can wear whatever he wishes, however I suggest something more casual. I think he'll look slightly over dressed and a little ridiculous.

It's a "mourning" suit, and wearing it has nothing to do with the time of day.

Of course, whatever you chose will be fine it wont look weird. Its your day and people will respect that. My husband wore a kilt in the middle of winter for ours. Have a lovely day x
