It is indestructible because it is made out of heavy thick metal and because it has nothing inside that would be crushed by the force of a crash. If the whole plane were made of that metal it would be too heavy to fly. The plane also has passengers inside that would be crushed by the force of the crash. That would defeat the purpose of having the outside survive.

Its made of metal. Its indestructible because of its shape, size and relatively small mass. Indestructible plane is supposed to survive the plane crash and be undamaged? First it would be way to heavy to fly, it couldn't Even move and if somehow it flu, if it would crash, it would survive but the passengers would be totally crushed by the G force!

The black box is not very aerodynamic and it can't hold much fuel.

I've seen black boxes retrieved from plane crashes and they are very bashed up. The box sacrifices itself to protect the data inside. It's the data that they try to make indestructible, not the box covering the data.

The box is made of Lead and Titanium. If we were to make the entire plane from the same material it would perhaps never take off due to the weight. It is the same reason why we are unable as of yet to make cars fly. I liked your thought evoking question. Keep asking

The plane would be too heavy to fly not to mention the expense. it would take a great engineering feat to make the plane out of that stuff.

Because the plane will be very black.

totally different materiel, very expencive and very heavy.. plane probably wouldn't fly.

Way too expensive - no one would be able to afford to fly.

Short answer: it would be too heavy to fly.
